An elegantly renewed and furnished house, located in the village of
Marettimo’s Island.
One of the three islands on the west Sicilian cost (one hour boat from
Trapani), Marettimo is part of the Egadi naturel reserve. 350 inhabitants in
wintertime, less than a thousand during August, the island remains very
authentic. The main economical activity is fishing.
The house has a nice spirit, authentic (old tiles and antic vaults, Sicilian
cabinet, windows redone the antic way) and modern (elegant and simple
furniture)
A supermarket next door.
4 restaurants on the island, and 3 cafes.
Access:
Flights for Palermo (45 minutes to Trapani’s port) or Trapani airport (30 minutes from
the port)
Tragetto Liberty line, one hour from Trapani’s port
Marettimo is part of the Egadi natural reserve.
The standing of the island is due to the quality of flora and savage fauna – hiking routes
are well preserved, and the exceptional seabed. Three diving clubs are taking the dives
from 10 meters up to 45 meters deep.
The caves are also making the reputation of the island and attract tourism for the day.
A nice journey on the fishermen boats (the only one allowed to access to this part of
the island.
For great swimming sites, it is easy to rent a boat for the day or ask a fisherman tour
around the island, and stop in a cove with crystal clear water.
The shops and restaurants of the village provide every needs – butcher, cold cuts,
cheese maker, wine and Sicilian products from June to October, wood fire bakery all
year long. Nice restaurants serving local Sicilian food, fish specialities, and of course
typical pasta seasoned with local herbs and pizza.
Tourism is limited as they are no big hotels on the island, only Bed and Breakfast and
one charming Eco lodge
